The Japan Meteorological Agency said on Tuesday a tsunami warning has been lifted for the country's northeast coast.
The agency had issued the warning earlier after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off northeastern Japan.

The quake, which occurred at 8:06 a.m. local time (2306 GMT Monday), was centered 210 km in the Pacific Ocean east of Miyagi Prefecture, with a depth of around 10 km. It registered 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale in parts of Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi and Akita prefectures.
The JMA has issued an advisory against a 1-meter tsunami for Iwate Prefecture in northeastern Japan.
According to Japanese public broadcaster NHK, Iwate's Miyako port and Kuji port have observed a tidal wave of about 10 cm respectively. The JMA is closely monitoring bigger tsunamis which may hit northeastern coastal areas later.
No death or injuries were reported immediately after the quake.

ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήUn petit tsunami s'est produit mardi au nord-est du Japon à la suite d'un violent séisme au large de l'archipel, les autorités demandant à des dizaines de milliers de personnes de quitter temporairement leur maison près des côtes.
Le tremblement de terre a été évalué un peu plus fort par l'Agence japonaise de météorologie, à 6,9, que par l'Institut américain de géophysique (USGS) qui l'a mesuré à 6,8.
Ordres ou recommandations d'évacuation ont été adressés à plusieurs dizaines de milliers de résidents de la préfecture d'Iwate, celle où existe le risque de raz-de-marée. "Attention, n'approchez pas des côtes, n'allez pas voir la situation et arrêtez toutes les tâches en cours le long du littoral", a averti l'Agence de météo qui indique que le risque ne concerne pour l'heure que la province d'Iwate et que le raz-de-marée pourrait atteindre une hauteur d'un mètre selon les estimations actuelles.

Second earthquake hits Japanese north-eastern coast over last 24 hours...
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήAn earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 has struck the north-eastern coast of Japan today, Japan Meteorological Agency said on Tuesday. It was the second earthquake in the region over the last 24 hours.
Tohoku Electric Company, which operates nuclear power plants (NPP) in this part of the country, said there were no emergencies on NPPs as a result of an earthquake.
The epicenter of the earthquake was on the depth of 50 kilometers in the sea not far from the Iwate prefecture. The tsunami alert was not declared.
