Boston im Bundesstaat Massachusetts erlebte am Wochenende seinen vierten Schneesturm des Jahres. Schon jetzt ist der Februar der schneereichste in der Geschichte. An manchen Stellen liegt der Schnee mehrere Meter hoch. "Wir hoffen, dass der Winter irgendwann aufhört", sagte Bostons Bürgermeister Martin Walsh.
Schnee vermiest Einzelhändlern das Geschäft
Seit Ende Januar fielen in Boston insgesamt 1,8 Meter Schnee. Am Sonntag fuhren keine öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel, Bewohner wurden gebeten, ihr Auto in der Garage zu lassen. Der jüngste Sturm enttäuschte Einzelhändler, die wegen des Valentinstages und des President's Day am Wochenende auf gute Geschäfte gehofft hatten.

The Changchun Longjia International Airport in Northeast China's Jilin Province was shut down on Monday afternoon after heavy snow in the region.

"Depuis 1950, neuf parmi les 10 années les plus chaudes sont les années 2000, donc le réchauffement global est visible en Afrique", remarque André Kamga Foamouhoue, chef du département Climat et environnement au Centre africain des applications de la météorologie pour le développement (Acmad), à Niamey. "Il est beaucoup plus important que le réchauffement global moyen parce qu'aujourd'hui en Afrique, sur les années 2000, il y a beaucoup d'années où le réchauffement dépasse un degré", bien que le continent ne soit pas plus exposé que les autres aux phénomènes climatiques, précise-t-il.
"Les maisons qu'on construit en Afrique utilisent du matériau de très faible résistance parce qu'il n'y a pas beaucoup d'argent, et les gens vont construire dans des zones inondables puisque ça coûte moins cher. Έτσι, στελέχη του υπουργείου εκφράζουν τον προβληματισμό τους για το ενδεχόμενο δημιουργίας ενός μονοπωλίου στην αεροπορική υποδομή.
Η δεύτερη ένσταση, σύμφωνα με τις ίδιες πηγές, είναι η διάρκεια της παραχώρησης, η οποία, βάσει της διαγωνιστικής διαδικασίας, ορίστηκε σε 40+10 χρόνια. Όπως αναφέρουν, η συγκεκριμένη διάρκεια προκαλεί ανησυχία.

Fukushima: une nouvelle fuite d'eau radioactive a été détectée...

Des capteurs fixés sur une conduite d'évacuation d'eaux de pluie et souterraines ont mesuré des taux de radioactivité jusqu'à 70 fois supérieurs aux valeurs déjà hautes enregistrées sur le site, a précisé un porte-parole de la compagnie.
Ces taux relevés vers 10H00 locales (02H00 HB) sont progressivement redescendus au cours de la journée mais ils restaient à des niveaux alarmants. La conduite d'évacuation menant à une porte adjacente sur la côte Pacifique a été coupée.
Selon Tepco, une inspection n'a pas révélé d'anomalie dans les gigantesques réservoirs de stockage d'eau contaminée et Tepco affirme "n'avoir nulle raison de penser que les réservoirs de stockage des eaux contaminées ont fui".

Fisheries ‘shocked’ at silence over water leak at wrecked Fukushima No. 1 plant...
ΔιαγραφήFishermen in Fukushima Prefecture slammed Tokyo Electric Power Co. on Wednesday after it emerged that water containing cesium and other radioactive isotopes has been draining into the Pacific near the Fukushima No. 1 plant and that Tepco did nothing to prevent it despite learning of the leak last May.
“I don’t understand why (Tepco) kept silent even though they knew about it. Fishery operators are absolutely shocked,” Masakazu Yabuki, chief of the Iwaki fisheries cooperative, said at a meeting with Tepco officials.
Local fishermen have already given Tepco approval to dump groundwater into the ocean before it becomes tainted, to reduce the volume of water stored in tanks at the site. A report released on Monday found that climate change could cost Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam US$16 billion per year in lost worker productivity, crop production and natural resource assets, plus US$18 billion in infrastructure damage because of flooding, storms and extreme heat.
The report - by the Washington-based World Resources Institute think tank - drew findings from a 2013 USAID analysis that forecasts higher temperatures, more rainfall and sea level rise for the region by 2050.

US President Barack Obama has vetoed a bill that would have approved construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline...

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Obama vetoed the bill "without any drama or fanfare or delay".
The 875-mile (1,400km) pipeline would carry tar sands oil from Alberta, Canada, to the US state of Nebraska where it joins pipes running to Texas.
