A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Papua New Guinea, local time 04:35:31, the United States Geological Survey has confirmed.
The quake was centered 110 km East Northeast of Taron, 164 km E of Namatanai, Papua New Guinea and had a depth of 378.8 km (235.4 mi). There have been no immediate reports of damage or injury. A tsunami warning was not issued following the massive quake.
