Japan sees North Korea as growing threat, defense report says

North Korea poses a new level of threat following its intercontinental ballistic missile tests, according to Japan's annual defense report released Tuesday.


The 2017 Defense White Paper said the risk that North Korea will be able to deploy missiles equipped with nuclear warheads capable of reaching Japanese territory is expected to grow over time. It noted that Pyongyang is making significant progress in its nuclear program.
